With over 22 years of experience in elementary education, Shannon has worn many hats throughout her career, including classroom teacher, math interventionist, math coach, adjunct professor, curriculum writer, and professional development specialist.

As a children's book author, national mathematics speaker/coach, and mathematics workshop provider, Shannon's expertise and passion for mathematics education shine through in everything she does. Her dedication to empowering educators and students alike is evident in her work as the creator of the Math Genius Squad, a professional development membership for users of Math Expressions.  

Shannon's commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by her hands-on approach to teaching and learning. She has taught and planned every lesson in every grade of Math Expressions from Kindergarten through sixth grade, ensuring that educators have the support and resources they need to create meaningful math experiences for their students.  

One of Shannon's greatest strengths lies in her ability to overcome math anxiety and fear, both in herself and in others. Dr. Karen Fuson is a distinguished figure in the field of mathematics education, renowned for her groundbreaking research and contributions to the advancement of mathematical learning. With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Fuson has dedicated herself to understanding the complexities of mathematical development and devising innovative approaches to teaching and learning.  She is currently service as Professor Emerita of Learning Sciences in the School of Education and Social Policy and the Department of Psychology at Northwestern University.

Her work has been instrumental in shaping contemporary perspectives on early childhood mathematics education, particularly in the areas of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.

Specifically, she was a member of the National Research Council’s Committees that wrote Adding It Up, Mathematics Learning in Early Childhood, and How Students Learn. Professor Fuson worked on the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and on the learning progressions for these standards and has advised PARCC and Smarter Balance on their math test design and items.

Heather is not just a teacher; she's a tech-savvy guru certified in Google for Education and Microsoft. Alongside her teaching journey, she's also a Kagan Trainer specializing in training teachers in the cooperative learning structures and strategies developed by Dr. Spencer Kagan.  

When she's not molding young minds, Heather enjoys her role as an empty nester of two and devoted dog mom to two doodles. With 52 years of Florida living under her belt and a 33-year partnership with her husband, Heather's heart truly belongs to the Sunshine State.

Beyond her professional and personal life, Heather is a creative soul. A seasoned crafter, she finds solace in quilting, sewing, and knitting. As an avid fan of the Harry Potter series, Heather's imagination knows no bounds.

In her childhood, Heather dreamed of unearthing ancient artifacts for museums, fueled by a fascination with history and discovery. While her career path may have diverged, her passion for education and exploration remains steadfast.

Armed with a Master's Degree in Education and boasting a nomination for The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, Missy is a beacon of excellence in the field of education.

 At the core of Missy's teaching philosophy lies the belief that ALL students can conquer math. She champions the idea of meeting students where they are and guiding them forward, emphasizing the importance of conceptual understanding for long-term skill retention.  

With her vibrant teaching style and unwavering dedication to student success, Missy ignites a passion for learning in all who enter her classroom. Beyond her academic achievements, Missy proudly showcases her Wisconsin pride, cheering passionately for her beloved Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and Bucks!  

Outside the classroom, Missy finds joy in the exhilaration of Crossfit and staying active. Married to her husband Shane, also an educator, for 22 years, they share the journey of raising two high school boys, one of whom is graduating this year. Missy's love for travel takes her hiking through National Parks, while cherished moments with friends and family are her ultimate treasures.
