Do you need a more directed and supported customized training option to meet the needs of your teachers and instructional leaders?

We have professional development that is guided and individualized.  Each session begins with a one-on-one conversation with Shannon where you decide on your goals and focus of the training.  

You won't need to research, plan, or put together a presentation for your staff to help support their math instructional goals.

A training session with Shannon is simple and she takes care of it all.  

She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, research, and clear communication to help your staff expand their mathematics teaching!  

She'll help you identify your goals, identify the type of learning, they type of ongoing support, and the type of accountability your staff needs.

All that is left to do is for you to come up with the focus or topic that you want, choose which grade level you want the training geared toward, and schedule the time.

💡Unit Planning Workshops

Want your teachers to become expert mathematics instructors?  

We will work through each unit and grade level separately.  Want to improve on a particular unit or concept?  Each can be purchased separately.  During each session, teachers will develop their conceptual understanding of the math, content knowledge, and improved instructional methods.

Please note: Participants must be Math Genius Squad members to participate.

💡 Virtual Training Sessions

Are you looking for a training session to add to your professional development plan that is focused on best practices, mathematics instruction, and that integrates with the Math Expressions curriculum?  


Choose between half day (up to 3 hours) or full day (4-7 hours.) and select either one-time session or intermittent-sessions throughout the year.  During each training session, we will have time to be reflective, learn enhanced practices, and improve effectiveness.

Math / Language Number Sense Routines

Are you clear on the embedded Number Sense standards in the Daily Routines and Quick Practices? Do you do these daily? Are you looking for more depth instruction, modeling, rationale or just ways to improve them? This workshop could be for you. We can add in language and math routines to fit your student data and needs.


Backward Planning

The missing piece to your instructional puzzle. For many, this is the step we don't have in place that could truly move the needle in math instruction. In this workshop, I'll teach you how to backward plan your unit using the 4 PLC questions, the unit assessment and on specific learning of unit content.





Guided Inquiry Instruction

Using an inquiry based approach can help reengage students, provide access to all levels of learners , and put the teacher in a facilitator role. We will explore how to launch lessons, sequence and select student work, and how to anchor the learning. 


Parent Nights / Support

Does your parent community need support in understanding Math Expressions and how to help their children at home?  This parent presentation is for you. This can be done in person or virtual and tailored to your needs. We don't like what we don't understand. Let me help your parents understand the math standards, expectations, and the ways Math Expressions meets them better.



Small Group Instruction

Using small group as a component of your math block can help you achieve your goals. Whether you need support with your intervention/enrichment MTSS blocks of math, or you need to improve your Tier 1 Core Instruction through balanced use of small group instruction, this workshop will rock your world. We can cover organization, data tracking, types of small group, focus of small group and of course the who, what, when and why.  Also check out the self-paced e-course on this topic.


Content Development

Whether focused on specific standard domains across the grades K-6, or at a specific grade, we will dive into the math, the learning progressions, building concepts with concrete-representational- abstract procedures. Pair this with the Math Genius Squad Membership. It's our most popular option.





Problem Solving

Problem solving doesn't have to be the worst part of our math block. Understanding the situations and 8 problem types with the corresponding math models will revolutionize how you teach problem solving in EVERY GRADE.


Fact Fluency

Why don't kids have math fact fluency? In this workshop we'll explore the best instructional strategies, the progression of fact fluency, and how to build fluency that sticks. I'll teach you routines to implement into daily instruction, provide data trackers, and identify the counting progressions required for fact mastery.


Math Talk

Let's explore Math Talk through the lens of Community, Quantity, and Quality. We'll cover norms, sentence frames, ways to hold all students accountable and more. This is a critical component of any math lesson. Our goal is students are doing 70% of the talking in our math classrooms.  Our goal is to hear every voice, every day. You'll leave this workshop inspired and with the tools you need to get kids talking!
